Welcome!

Just what the world needs. Another blog from one more person with nothing interesting to say.

That was my first thought when my wife suggested that I start my own blog.

When I worked in Washington, DC, after college, a friend and I started a blog entitled www.whoareyoukidding.com. It was a political blog that lasted about six months. We had some fun with it, alienated some people with different political persuasions, and made a few more people laugh. However, in the end, we decided that happy hours and a social life were more important than keeping up with our blog posts.

Now, here I am, seven years later, giving this blog thing another try. I am married to the woman of my dreams, have an angelic daughter, a mortgage, and two incorrigible dogs. I can't promise you this blog will last more than six months, but I can promise you that I will do everything in my power not to be a bore. I can also promise that it won't be happy hours that get me this time.

I am a commercial real estate broker in Nashville, TN, which means you probably just rated me slightly ahead of the guy at the IRS who audited you last year.

I broker deals for a living. I help companies find office space, landlords fill vacant space, and investors try to make a decent return (even in this market).

Though this blog will certainly include my thoughts and opinions on anything and everything commercial real estate, I will not use it to shamelessly pawn any of my listings on you. [Although, if you are interested, please visit www.chashawkins.com for more information about my company and my listings (shameless plug out of the way!).]

This blog will also include other things I am curious about, including finance, books, baseball, English bulldogs, college football, politics (not too much, I promise), and, most significantly, God.

I will end this post with how I probably should have started it: an explanation of the title of the blog. I have discovered that success in business and in life simply amounts to A GREATER EFFORT.

It is my hope that you will appreciate this effort and find that I am not just one more person with nothing interesting to say.
